Wanika’s Weekly Newsletter End of Session Recap

End of 2022 Legislative Session

As I look back on all the good work done this legislative session I’m proud of the work we all accomplished. I have been blessed to serve the residents of District 47B these past 4 years and it has been the greatest honor of my life. A bittersweet parting but I leave Annapolis knowing we (District47B) came and did the good work of the people!

A Celebratory Send-Off!

I’m so blessed to be surrounded by so much love from my colleagues! I was left speechless at a surprise send-off party for me right after floor on Monday. I’m humbled by their love and well wishes for my next journey! My sorors shared a beautiful parting gift. After so many tears and laughter, all I can say is that I’ll truly miss the House of Delegates.

As amended by the House, this landmark legislation strengthens Maryland’s commitment to mitigating the effects of climate change by setting achievable goals to reduce greenhouse gases and meet the goal of net-zero statewide emissions by 2045. This bill is the result of nearly a year’s worth of work by legislative leaders and advocacy organizations and it continues to prove that Maryland is a national leader when it comes to addressing climate change.
